Continue to Amman, Jordan's capital city. Today breakfast and dinner will be included. | | Day 6 | Petra | Amman - Madaba - Mt. Nebo - Petra : Travel Kings Highway, lined with prehistoric villages from the Stone Age, biblical towns, Roman fortresses and Islamic settlements. In Madaba, the "City of Mosaics," visit the church of St. George to see a 6th century Byzantine mosaic map. Next, stop at a mosaic shop to learn the history of this ancient art. Travel to Mt. Nebo where Moses saw the Promised Land - present day Israel - and is believed to be laid to rest. Visit Shobak Castle, a 12th century crusader castle. Your day ends in the ancient city of Petra. Today breakfast will be included. | | Day 7 | Petra | Petra - Wadi Rum - Petra : Tour the remarkable city of Petra (UNESCO), one of the new Wonders of the World. Then, depart for the desert of Wadi Rum, home of the famous film "Lawrence of Arabia." Tonight, enjoy dinner at a traditional Bedouin camp. Learn about the history of the Bedouin people who have lived for generations in the Wadi Rum's stark, fragile desert. Today breakfast and dinner will be included. | | Day 8 | Dead Sea | Petra - Allenby Bridge Border Crossing - Jericho, Israel - Dead Sea : Return to Israel and continue to Jericho which is considered to be the oldest city on earth. Later, arrive in the Dead Sea, the lowest body of water on Earth. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax, experience the Dead Sea's waters or perhaps take in a spa treatment*. Today breakfast and dinner will be included. | | Day 9 | Jerusalem | Dead Sea - Masada - Qumran - Jerusalem : Travel the shores of the Dead Sea to the former palatial fortress of Masada (UNESCO), originally Herod's fortress. Ascending Masada by cable car, visit Herod's Palaces, the Roman Camp and the Synagogue. In Qumran, tour the area where the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. This evening you arrive in Jerusalem. Then, walk the path of the Stations of the Cross as you traverse the Via Dolorosa, beginning at Pilate's Judgment Hall and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. A stop in Bethlehem, spread along the Judean Hills, allows for a visit to the Church of the Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus and the first church ever built.
